Driving creates a passion for machines that move not only our bodies, but also our senses. The 903 concept is drawn from this passion. Distilling that spirit into a pure form requires the design of the entire car. By designating the specifications of the mechanical components from the beginning, the concept evolves beyond a mere automobile. This thorough approach to design results in transportation for the soul.

The heart of the concept is the twin-turbo multi-valve V8 engine. It lives in the center of the car and pumps it strength to all four wheels through an all-wheel drive system. The 903 harnesses this energy with an inboard braking system and 6 speed gearbox. The voice of this machine speaks through twin pipes exiting under the T-mounted wing.

Inside, the 903 echoes its mechanical qualities by exposing the frame as an interior design element. This reduces weight and enhances the driving experience. Thickly padded space frame seats isolate the passengers from the unpleasant feelings. Integrated control features include frame-mounted gauges and a steering wheel housing both the paddle shifters and an I-pod. The remainder of the interior design is dedicated to clear sight lines and occupant protection while still exposing many of the skeletal surfaces.

The lines of the 903 body are painted by their function. Maximizing the wheelbase puts the wheels out at the far corners of this car. This packages the engine and cabin well but also communicates the dynamic stance of this driving device. Minimizing the excess space between the frame and the body brought about an interesting form by sculpting material taut over the muscular frame and large tires. Flared fenders and flush fitting grills further evokes the athletic nature of this automobile and its intent.

One aspect of new design is the opportunity to bring innovation. The 903 introduces an extraordinary frame and unique parallel link-hinge doors. An advancement on the space frame, this chassis spans the wheelbase in a long graceful arch. Triangulated gussets tie the frame to the driveline as the internal members act as a scaffold for the body and interior. Though quite large in diameter, the tubing is thin walled for lightness and hollow for fire suppressant storage.

Another function of the frame is supporting these fascinating doors. They are designed to move away from the body on parallel links as they swing open. Once fully extended, they need less radial clearance as traditional doors while still providing more entry space. The doors also move toward the rear of the car to reveal a more direct path to the interior.
